25 Years Of America Getting Fatter

The Centers for Disease Control has a bunch of maps that illustrate the dramatic rise in obesity in United States over the last 25 years. What's shocking is that in 1990 no state had obesity levels greater than 15 percent. By 2010, no state had obesity levels less than 20 percent.

  1. But they didn't tell you that the insurance companies have DECREASED the average weight per height during that same period. Average weight for 6 ft 1 in 1985 was 210 lbs.; in 2010 the weight is 180 lbs. See, you manipulate the facts very easily.

  3. Anonymous, what do the insurance companies have to do with anything? The data was collected by the National Institutes for Health.

Also according to your information, the BMI of a 6 ft 1 was 27.7 (considered overweight) in 1985, yet in 2010 it's only 23.7 (considered normal weight) The maps illustrate that the weight has been increasing, not decreasing.
